992 WEC Harness bar

Regular price $3,695.00
ColorRaw (unfinished)

Description

Racing pedigree is the foundation in which a manufacturer stands on for its proclaimed success. This is where road-going sports cars are developed and put to the ultimate trial. In order to pay homage to the greatest form of sports car racing, we introduce the WEC Roll / Harness bar for the 991 platform.

Inspired by Porsche's highly anticipated 991 GT2 RS, the ultimate version of the 6 cylinder, rear engine sports car. We have looked to our own racing pedigree to design and produce a key element of the vehicle that currently holds the record for its class on the Nurburgring.

We are proud to have continued our tradition of offering high-quality harness/roll bars for late model Porsche’s.  The GMG WEC roll bar is made from Docol R8 tubing to not only minimize added weight, but to also increase the chassis’ rigidity.  Each bar is precisely TIG-welded and normalized right here in Southern California.  The 4-point WEC design features an X-braced main hoop with rearward extending arms and diagonal bar.  The front legs are bolted down directly to a structural cross-member, while the rear arms are attached (via reinforcement plates) to the rear shock towers.  Through track testing we found this design to provide the best trade-off between increased structural support and additional weight.

Please note that rollbars do not include final shipping charges. Because of the size and complexity of freight, shipping is done on a individual basis. A separate invoice will be sent post–purchase for products bought online, or to get a shipping quote beforehand, please email weborder@gmgracing.com

Highlights:
  • The system is TIG-welded using Docol R8 tubing and increases the structural rigidity of the chassis by bracing 4 structural points together. (Meets requirements for POC/PCA.)
  • Much lighter, and stronger than other roll bars (4130 Chromoly, DOM tubing)
  • Designed to work with standard reclining seats, light-weight bucket seats and aftermarket bucket seats with no interference in seat travel
  • No fabrication required. Instalation is 100% "bolt-in". Minor trimming to the carpet is necessary. (Factory bar requires drilling holes in floor and attaching plates)
  • Comes complete with all hardware needed to install.
  • Standard finish is a durable satin black powder-coat. Optional colors are available at an additional cost.

Vehicle Fitment includes all 2012 + Porsche 911 Models (991 & 992 Chassis):

  • 2022+ Porsche 992 GT3
  • 2014-2019 Porsche 991 911 GT3, "RS" and "R"

    Shipping & Returns

    International Shipping

In-stock orders leave the shop within two to three business days. We try to keep everything on the shelf, but there are stretches where we're backordered, and when that happens a team member will contact you with an accurate ship date before you have to ask for one. Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and international destinations run higher than domestic, and because the rate depends on where you are, contact us for a proper quote before you order.

    Order tracking

Tracking numbers go out automatically as soon as your order is packed. If 72 hours have passed without one, check your junk folder, which is where these emails tend to end up, and if it isn't there either, contact us and we'll find it.

    Get in touch

If you have a question about your order, contact us and a person at the shop will answer it. Customer service runs Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm PST.

    Sourcing & Materials

    Sourcing

We are particular about what things are made from, which is why we build with Docol R8 tubing rather than whatever the steel yard had that week, and why our merge collectors are now 3D printed instead of fabricated the way everyone else still does it, because the printed part does the job better and the old way was leaving something on the table. None of it is done to look clever. It's done because the material that survives a season at the track is rarely the material that was easiest to order, and we'd rather go find the unorthodox thing than sell you the convenient one.

    made here

Every GMG part is produced in Southern California by our own engineers and fabricators, and the process runs the whole way through the building: the 3D scan of the car, the engineering and post-processing, the first prototype, and the beating that prototype takes at the hands of our professional drivers and the crew who support them before anyone is allowed to call it a product. Every name in that chain is one we know. The partners whose products we list are held to the same expectation, because putting our name next to something means we're accountable for it, and we'd rather do without a listing than explain one away.

    why it's on the shelf

Our home track is a short walk from the shop door, which means every harness bar, exhaust and performance part we sell has been run in anger under real conditions on our own cars before it goes on yours, and the ones that didn't hold up never made it to this page. That is the entire value system, and it comes from a lot of hours in competitive racing, where a failed part is a wrecked car rather than a bad review. We don't sell vanity upgrades. If a part is listed here it changes something you can measure or feel, or it makes the car safer, and if it does neither we have no interest in taking your money for it.
